Del Saito Soke is one of the most highly respected Karate-do instructors today. His expertise in Shito-ryu Karate-do has made a significant impact on practitioners throughout the world. Born in Hawaii, he began his martial arts journey at an early age on the North Shore of Oahu.

Lineage and Foundation

Del Saito received his foundational Karate training from notable masters including Soke Kenzo Mabuni (Seito Shito-ryu), Sensei Chuzo Kotaka (Kotaka-ha Shito-ryu), and Sensei Al Kahalekulu (Chito-ryu).

His deep understanding and organizational skills so impressed Soke Kenzo Mabuni that Saito was awarded the Hanshi (Master Instructor) title. Uniquely, Soke Mabuni gave Saito his blessing to pursue Shito-ryu independently, making him the only instructor allowed to do so outside of Mabuni's personal organizations.

The Birth of Saito-ha Shito-ryu

Approaching his 60th birthday, Saito Sensei felt it was time to initiate his own lineage: Saito-ha Shito-ryu Karate-do, officially launched in June 2008. This move represented a commitment to excellence and the evolution of the style under his own vision, nourished by over forty years of teaching experience.

Saito Soke maintains a traditionalist approach balanced with an openness to new concepts. He believes Karate-do is more than technique; it is a tool to help individuals discover their creativity and reach their full human potential.
