Master Shoko Sato is considered one of the great pioneers of Japanese Traditional Karate. Born in 1945 in Miyagi, Japan, he began his journey in the early 1960s under the legendary Manzo Iwata, a direct disciple of Shito-ryu founder Kenwa Mabuni.

Academic and Competitive Success

Sato Sensei enrolled at the prestigious Toyo University in Tokyo, a renowned "Karate powerhouse." His exceptional skill led to his appointment as the team captain, guiding the Toyo University squad to the All Japan Karate Championship in the late 1960s. Although he briefly worked as an economist after graduation, his calling was the global propagation of Shito-ryu.

Pioneer in Latin America

Master Sato moved to Venezuela to spread the teachings of Karate. He is today credited as the "Father of Traditional and Competitive Karate" in Venezuela, having developed the foundation for the martial art across the region.

Global Leadership and Philosophy

Today, Master Sato is an 8th Dan and serves as the Pan-American Director for the World Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation (WSKF). Despite his high rank and international responsibilities, his teaching remains accessible to everyone.

His philosophy emphasizes advancing at one's own pace. He is known for maintaining a level of familiarity and respect with all students, believing that direct interaction is the only way to prevent the development of bad habits. For Master Sato, teaching is not a job, but a way of life that he continues to share through seminars worldwide.
